CRAU History: NOTE: This game was a MUCK, not DWRP
On her way home quitting her job at NERVE, Devi is sucked onto a strange street in a new world. After arriving on Twisted Street from her home world with only her backpack and her Sickness, she decided to never be a victim in this world and begins learning how to defend herself against the powerful inhabitants and dangerously unpredictable setting. She adapts quickly to the new environment and Sickness recesses for the time being. After a random battle in the UR Gym with Oblivion, a powerful Mazuko, he tempts her into power, offering her a way to protect herself and takes her soul, turning her into a Mazuko and his general. She proceeded to wreck mental havoc upon a few of her self labeled 'enemies'. After violently murdering a princess dragon named Sun and trapping her soul in a crystal, Devi went temporarily insane over the violence of her actions and split into two people, in part due to the evacuation of Sickness from her mind.

While split, the 'Evil' Devi still under contract with Oblivion was captured shortly after by a Saiya-jin named Kaldrath and taken to another world. 'Good' Devi stayed behind on Twisted and started rebuilding a life. There, in DBA, Devi came under the tutelage of Cale Satanas who taught her how to use her physical energy instead of the vast power of the Mazuko line. She developed many talents such as Ki abilities and a higher level of fighting prowess over the 7 months she was there. As Cale had bound her to him by restricting her mazuko ability to phase into the Astral Plane, confining her to a physical form, when she was later released from the service of Oblivion, she retained the strength and power from Cale's training. Upon her return to Twisted, the Devi's merged to form a girl very different from the one that first came to Twisted's streets. Cale later returned to talk her down from being Oblivion's war general and together, they revived her soul. She was less headstrong and more open to a non-violent resolution to her problems. Free now to make her own choices and mistakes, Devi foolishly gets tricked by the Lord of Hell, Senior Diablo, into joining his ranks in the coming War. Soon after, she fell in love with Zelgadis Greywers, a chimera from Slayers and that singular good relationship. The relationship ended when Zel was sent back home in the later reality rift.

Hell is defined very specifically on Twisted Street and had a Hell Council of 7 to match the Twisted Councils' numbers. Through much plotting, it was found that Twisted's Council had been corrupted by it's many years in control of the world. Hell's Council Head, Senior Diablo (who is Satan in Devi's world) lead a violent war which Devi participated against Twisted's Council head, Concordance and her loyal super AI angel companion, Guarlesia. In the end, Hell won, destroying their opponents and restoring the balance of power by later appointing another Council. Devi took one of those Council seats. Since Concordance wasn't trying to reshape the reality of Twisted street anymore, reality shifted, stabilizing the street and it's outlying areas after 10 years of interdimensional chaos. This affected everyone in some way. Many were wiped out of the dimension and sent somewhere else, or their memories were reset to the day they arrived. Devi was one of the rare exceptions, where in she retained her basic fighting knowledge and skill of near instant transmission. The reality shift was too much for the Street and it slowly started disappearing into the Void. Devi remained active, decorating the empty buildings to keep herself together.

Personality: Though Devi started out as a hermit, her time in the multiverse has forced her to face her fears and the world that provides them. While she will occasionally cave to her human instincts and scurry away to whatever hole she's calling home, Devi is a blatant and forceful personality.

Sharply witted and too intelligent for her own good, Devi uses her sarcastic and sometimes crass wit to playfully banter with people. She's also easily bored, which leads her into taunting or baiting people into conversations, debates or fights. Using her head is just as important as using her fists. Having gone through some crap in her life, Devi is a very proud kind of person who doesn't want anyone's help unless she absolutely needs it. Her stubborn independence and determination saved her from falling victim to Sickness and she leans on it heavily. She's socially savvy in the way a rock is savvy; they're not. While Devi functions fine in the world and despite her wit, she always manages to either say the 'wrong' thing, be antagonistic, or apply an analogy that strikes towards a darker and negative implication, something that usually doesn't go over well. Relationships are totally out of the question for her as Devi is convinced that she will never have something more. Her self esteem is healthy, underneath her 'I don't give a fuck' attitude, but her history with men and dating have been hellish. That being said, Devi's also avidly protective of her personal space. She doesn't like being touched or embraced. The only exception to that has been when she fights.

Devi developed a deep sense of apathy in her home world, finding a sour distaste in the stupid people and dirty setting, and this apathy tends to color all of her interactions with anything she deems mundane. This often leads to cruel thoughtless criticisms. She's as inquisitive as she is curious and loves solving puzzles. This ranges from 'solving' people and answering whatever pertinent question that she feels ought to be answered, often disregarding common sense and others to follow her curiosity to the end of the line.

Being stubborn and hardheaded, Devi can be quick to anger, but unless she's forced to defend herself, it's usually just hot air. Devi's hard to catch off guard due to her paranoia of being harmed and her over analyzation of people and things, not to mention her training. She's not a good strategist though, letting her fists do most of the thinking when she's pissed. She can sometimes find that center of calm where her brain starts working again and it's then that she'll become more dangerous but more cautious to the destructive power of her skills.

It's not all gruff sarcasm - Devi does have a kind heart underneath it all but lacks key empathy points found in friendship for anything that isn't life or death, or a major injury. She'll jump in and help someone without thinking about why or what will happen, but she plays it off as though it would have been advantageous to her in the first place. Once someone has earned her trust, friendship, or respect, Devi can be loyal to a fault and becomes a very reliable person to count on.

Powers/Abilities: Devi is versed in mixed martial arts and due to her death and training, now has abilities similar to people in Dragon Ball. She's psychically resilient and an active Ki user, boosting her base stats of strength, giving her the power of flight and the ability to collect her ki into projectile balls.

Inventory: A black kriss dagger and a katana.

Writing Samples

First Person Sample:

You're fucking kidding me. This is like waking up in China with a new tattoo and a dead chicken. Weird. [Despite the complaints slightly disgusted edge, Devi was still looking around the area she was in as she spoke, centering back on the video screen.]

Someone feel like telling a girl which side of Satan's ass I just woke up on? Not to knock the place, but it's not lookin' much better then home.

Third Person Sample:

It was another street. Wasn't it always another street? Devi was beginning to foster an irrational irritation towards blacktop of any kind as she pushed herself to her feet with a soft grunt and brushed what little dust she found off the black trench coat she was wearing. The place was taken in with a deep breath (along with an idle wonder if the atmosphere would even sustain her without poisoning her with some otherworldly gas) and an outward sigh.

"At least it's not on fire.." She looked up. "Or raining acid. Suppose I could have done worse. Someone's got a really bad throwing arm." She rolled her shoulder, massaging where it feels like she hit the hardest. As much as the sloth in her wanted to find a spot, plop down and possibly nap, Devi was wound in a quiet tight anticipation. New places held new things, new people, and new ideas; all things that Devi gravitated towards. Even under the heavy tight lid of paranoia, she almost dared to be excited.

First things first. The dust around her black half laced combat boots bloomed out from her as she tapped into her ki and slowly rose up into the air. She needed a birds eye view. It would all look different from the ground, that was true, but Devi was just as interested in everything she wouldn't be able to see from that level as what she was able to see. Had to start somewhere. Who knows? Maybe there was an elaborate city beyond the dusty ruins she'd woken up in. She could be optimistic, even if she wasn't holding her breath for it.

"Knowing my luck, it's a vat filled with grape jello and valley girls," she mutters under her breath. So much for optimism.

Final Notes: There's only one other thing. Since Sickness is part of the Supernatural part of Devi's world, she can influence the world around Devi. Normally, it's a negative offense around and against the Artist specifically (door handles shocking her, traffic accidents keeping her from getting to the job she's going to quit, lodging a fat woman in Devi's apartment hallway..) and only really put into play when Devi hasn't painted for a while, but it does offer Devi the possibility of getting away with whatever she wants to do. Johnny got away with mass murder in this world due to this power; it rewrote things in witnesses heads or erased it completely, healing the world around the violent oddity. This isn't going to happen in game, but it does influence Devi and should be noted.

Ki Abilities - Increased strength and speed; endurance (IE. she's harder to cut, bruise, be shot by modern mid level guns.) Flight.

Specific attacks - Devi is much like Vegeta with her Ki output. She does long to mid range volleys of rapidly built and fired Ki balls, or a solo beam at roughly the combined output of such a volley. While this means that they're still troublesome, because they're not built, their 'attack power' is weaker for the lack of focused building.

While, yes, the Dragon Ball Verse is very open to.. let's face it, egregious power levels, Devi has come to realize that not all worlds allow her to access the full berth of her potential, and is used to physics caps specific to other Realities. Technically, she's got the power to destroy a planet, but only and specifically in the homeworld where she died in order to get access to these powers.

Due to what she knows she is capable of (and how reluctant she is to use it), Devi is very much a brawler and largely depends on her strength, speed, martial arts skills and wits.

For a setting like this, I'm fine with whatever relative cap you lovely mods decide. Thank you for your consideration!
